Reassigning an existing QR Code to a new piece of content.

So you've created a Newsletter and assigned it to a QR code which you've put on a poster printed and pinned up in the staff room, but that was a couple of weeks ago and now you have a new newsletter. Do you need to create a new QR code and a new poster? Not at all. You can use the same QR code and change where it points to!

Deactivating the existing content

OK so the first step will be to deactivate what your QR code is currently pointing to, so go to your QR code Menu under Create & Send and select the QR code you want to use. I've selected the QR code that I have pointing at a sent email called Old Newsletter.

To deactivate this content all I need to do is click on the red deactivate button on the right hand side. This then moves Old Newsletter into Previously Assigned Content so I won't lose the reporting statistics for that email.

Assigning new content when sending an email

OK so you've deactivated the old content on the QR code and you're ready assign the new content. If that content is an email then one way you can assign that email to the QR code is at the time of sending the email out.

There are 7 steps to sending out an email and step 6 is the QR code section. The screen will show you all of the QR codes you have set up so far as well as what content is active on them.

In this screen you can select an existing QR code and set the active period you'd like this email to be on that QR code or have it there indefinitely. Once you've chose than click next to send out your email.

Assigning Content from the QR Code Menu

Alternatively if you're linking your QR code to something other than an email, such as a landing page or survey, then you'll need to go to the QR code menu again and click on the QR code you'd deactivated the content on, click Assign Content and then select what you'd like to assign from the window that pops up.

You can use the headers at the top to decide what should be assigned.

Just like with the emails, you can choose a particular time period for this content to be active or you can leave it to be active indefinitely.

Layering Content on a QR Code

Did you know its possible to assign a new email to a QR code without deactivating the previous content? And why would you want to layer content like this?

When you're sending an email and you have the option to link the QR code to an existing QR code the screen will show you QR codes that already have content on them. If I select that QR code my new email will be what people see when they scan the QR code, instead of the previous content.

I use this approach when I need to send urgent communications, which I can do with an existing QR code linked to a landing page or survey. By temporarily layering the new content over the existing one with a scheduled deactivation, I can share updates without creating new posters. After a set period, the QR code automatically redirects to the original content, ensuring it isn’t lost.
