How to create anchor links

Making anchor links in an email or landing page can be helpful if you have lots of news items or a few very long ones, and you want to include an "In this issue" style index at the top.

But first of all we'd recommend writing your entire campaign and adding all the content, so that the only thing left to do is make anchor links.

This includes writing the "In this issue" style index at the top of the email. Then all that's left is create the anchors and the links!

Creating the Anchors

In order for us to create a link we need to set the destination that link will go to. In my email I've got two buttons that I want to link to sections further down the email - GBRX News and Product Spotlight.

To create the anchor for the GBRX News button I scroll down my email until I've found the header for that section. When I click that text box and scroll down on the left there is a field called  "Add and anchor link" which is a slider that is switched off by default.

I've switched that slider on and entered the anchor name of "GBRXNews"

Setting the link to anchor

Now that I have the anchor it's time to link to it. I scroll back up to my GBRX News button and when I click it I can see a Link field on the left at the top, set to Site by default.

All I need to do here is remove the https:// and type in #GBRXNews. This will update the left half of the link to be the name of the anchor link which is how I know it's worked.

Now that the anchor link has been set, I need to test it, so I'll send myself a proof and clicking that button should scroll me automatically down the email to the header for GBRX News. If it does then its working and I can set the other anchor links in my email.
