What is a contact card?
Each Contact has all their details stored in their Contact Card. To open a Contact’s card, go to the Groups area in the Contacts section and click on a Contact in the data table.
The Contact card is made up of 6 information tabs – Details, Custom Fields, Groups, Segments, Send History and GDPR.
Details
The Details tab contains every piece of information you have stored for a Contact, such as their name and contact details and geographical location details including Country and Postcode.
Information added or changed in the Details tab will be automatically saved as you go.
Custom Fields
Custom fields are fields that you have created yourself when you've imported a contact file. For example in my NewZapp account, I have two custom fields for Favourite Movie and Favourite Band.
Groups
The Groups tab will show you every group that a contact has been added to. You can manage the groups for this contact by clicking the Manage Groups toggle at the top of the section and click the tick boxes and just like information added or changed in the Details tab, changes on the Groups tab are automatically saved as you make them.
Segments
In the segments tab you'll be able to see the different segments that these contacts are currently showing in. Unlike with Groups, you can't control which segments the contact is part of as the segments are set by criteria and the contact will remain in the segment as long as the criteria still applies.
You can also see in this screen how many filters have been applied to that segment. For example, in my screenshot below, I have 1 filter applied.
You can see more about how segments work here.
Send History
In the Send History tab you can see which email campaigns have been sent to the contact as well as whether or not they've opened or clicked in those emails.
GDPR
In this section you can see the GDPR history for the customer, so you can see if they've unsubscribed, when that was and who unsubscribed them, whether they did that themselves or if someone in the NewZapp account has done this.
You are able to export these details into an excel spreadsheet if required.
Contact Status
When you suppress or unsubscribe a Contact this information is added to the top of the Contact Card along with different colour headers to let you know at a glance that this Contact is different.
A suppressed Contact has a light grey header and the message “Suppressed: This Contact does not receive any campaigns from your account”.
A Contact who has been Unsubscribed (bounced) after exceeding the bounce threshold has an orange header and the message “Unsubscribed (Bounced): This Contact does not receive any campaigns from your account”.
Action buttons
When you’re on the Contact Card there are 3 buttons at the top. When you click on any of these buttons, you will be asked to confirm each action:
- Suppress: Temporarily stop this Contact receiving any campaigns from your Account.
- Delete: Remove this Contact from your Account. They can be re-added in future.
- Unsubscribe: Permanently stop this Contact receiving any campaigns from your Account.
These buttons will vary according to Contact Status (see above). For example, the card may have Unsuppress or Re-subscribe options available if the Contact is suppressed or unsubscribed.
An unsubscribed Contact has a red header and the message “Unsubscribed: This Contact does not receive any campaigns from your account”.
