How to Create a Sign Up form as a Landing Page

Do you want your customers to be able to sign themselves up to your Newsletters? You can do that with NewZapp. We can provide you with HTML code for you to host the sign up forms on your website. For information on how to do this, click here.

Creating the Sign Up Form

Alternatively, we can host that sign up form for you as a Landing Page which gives you the freedom to be able to customise the sign up form whenever you want.

To create the Sign Up form go to Create & Send and select Landing Pages at the top. Select New Landing Page and then From Template. One of the default templates here is Online Signup Landing Page. Select this one.

Name your landing page and click Create Landing Page to be in the editor. Like with how you edit your emails you can go ahead and design this page however you would like to.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU DO NOT EDIT THIS STRIPE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LANDING PAGE. WE'LL GET TO THIS IN A MOMENT.

Getting your details for the Sign Up Form

Once you've designed the Sign Up form, we'll need to get the details for this sign up form to work. The first thing we'll need to get is your Customer ID which is very easy to get.

You simply need to click on your icon in the top right corner of the screen, opening up your profile menu. The Customer ID is right at the top. Its the section I've covered up in the screenshot below. Make a note of this ID number.

Next we need to get the Group ID. This is the Group that the contact would automatically be added to when they sign up. Go to Contacts and find the group you'd like to use. Click the 3 dots on the right hand side and click Edit. This will open a new window where the Group ID is in the middle. Make a note of this.

The complicated bit

OK so now that we have those two IDs we need to add them to sign up form. Go back to the edit screen for that Landing Page and select the stripe in the middle with the fields for new customers to fill in. Once you've selected that click on the button at the top that looks like this <>. This will open up the HTML code for the landing page in the bottom half of your screen.

I promise this code isn't as scary as it looks!

First thing we're going to do here is enter your Customer ID that you made a note of earlier. In this code there will be a section near the bottom that says "id="CID" value="XXXXXX". What you'll need to do is replace the X's with the Customer ID.

Now just after this is where we'll be entering your Group ID. Look for some code that says "name="GroupIDs" id="MyGroupIds" value="XXXXXX" and same as with the above ID we're going to replace the X's with the Group ID.

If you'd like customers to be added to multiple groups when they sign up then in this Group ID piece of code enter each Group ID separated by a column. For example "value="123,456" would add new sign ups to Group ID 123 and Group ID 456.

Once you've done editing the code click the <\> at the top of the screen to close the HTML Editor. Your changes will have saved automatically. That wasn't too bad was it!

Publishing your Sign Up Page

Now that you're sign up is ready to go click Next in the top right corner. Enter a title for your sign up page. This is what your customers will see. You can also enter a Google Analytics ID here if you'd like and set a topic for your sign up form.

Click next and you get the option to assign your Landing Page to a QR code. It's handy to do this if you're going to a convention and you'd like them to sign up. Put this QR code on a poster that you can then have at your table/booth. You can learn more about QR Codes here.

Once you're done, click Publish. The screen that comes up will give you a link to the URL for this page as a clip board to copy that link.
