Photos being rotated in Outlook

Have you sent an email where an image you’ve had in your draft was rotated 90 degrees? In the editor you set the image to be portrait only for your proof to have it as landscape?

What happens?

This is down to the photos being taken on mobile phones (most commonly iPhones) as these photos then have EXIF metadata that controls the orientation of the image. Outlook may then read this and then rotate the image in the email back to its original orientation.

How to fix this in NewZapp

The fix for this is relatively simple. All you need to do is open the images file, rotate it to the orientation you want, and then save it as a copy. This copy then has different EXIF metadata than the original, so when you use the copy in

The fix for this is very simple. Select the image in the email editor and click on the magic wand icon on the left hand side to open up the image editor.

Immediately click Save in the top corner without making any changes and you'll now have a new version of this image with the correct orientation. This will create a new image in the image library and the new image is the correct way up.

You'll notice that the NewZapp image library also shows you the true orientation of the images you're uploading.
