Exclude prefetch activity

Do you all of a sudden have incredibly high open rate on your emails? As much as I'd like to say that this is down to an excellent email, this could be down to prefetch data, but what is prefetch data and why should it be exluded?

In an attempt to crack down on spam emails being received, companies are activating settings on their mail servers that check every link on every email to make sure they're not malicious. It's an excellent idea to do this, however it can cause misleading data in the reports screen.

NewZapp recognises that an email has been opened by either images being downloaded or links being clicked, so when this security check checks the links, we're recording that as an open.

A good way to check if this is the case is looking in your Data tab in reports. There's a column for First Opened and if this time is the same or very close for every record, it's probably the security setting checking these emails before they're delivered to the recipients.

At the top of your screen you'll see a tickbox to Exlude Prefetch Activity. If you tick this NewZapp will do its best to remove the prefetch data from your results.
