In NewZapp you can use segments to find particular contacts within groups. This is a way of searching using live data, so if the data changes, the results to the data change as well. There is now a function in NewZapp to use And or Or to help filter your results.
This article will assume that you already know how to create a segment in NewZapp. You can find out how to do this here.
In the Segments screen I have a segment that I've created previously where I'm looking for all contacts in a group who have opened my emails in the last 90 days.
I have highlighted in the above screen shot where you can set your conditions in the filter to be And, where a contact has to meet the requirements of all the filters in order to show up in the results, or Or where the contact has to meet the requirements of any of the selected filters in order to show up in the results. By default your segments will be set to And.
In my segment I'll add a second filter, this time where the first name is not Steven. Because the And condition is selected at the top of the screen the results I will get have to match both my filters. They will need to have opened an email I've sent to them in the last 90 days and also not have Steven in the first name field of their contact card.
You can then see that I now have 1 less result as Steven has now been excluded from the results.
But what if I change the condition to Or? This will mean that out of everyone in my group, they will need to either have opened an email I sent them OR not have the first name of Steven in their contact card. Unfortunately this means everyone in that group meets at least one of these requirements.
